Imagine a Sub Saharan Africa where adolescents and young people are healthy, educated, empowered and thrive as they
fulfil their potential!
Young people in Sub Saharan Africa encounter obstacles in accessing necessary information and health services to make informed decisions about their health and to take action on those decisions. Young people with disabilities, those in conflict zones, those living with HIV, and other vulnerable groups face even greater challenges, putting them at higher risk for negative health outcomes, gender inequity, social exclusion, and violence exposure.
Many girls and young women in the Sub Saharan Africa region still lack access to education due to gender inequality and discrimination. Factors like poverty, early marriage, and gender-based violence contribute to high rates of out-of-school and illiterate girls and women.
Empowering Youth for Health and Equality
In response to these issues the O3 and O3 Plus Programs are designed to tackle these challenges head-on, by enhancing the quality of health and well being education, strengthening legal frameworks, addressing gender inequality and harmful norms, and reaching marginalised groups. This mission is not just a dream— it's a journey towards empowerment, a path that nurtures the agency of adolescents and young people while equipping them with vital skills, knowledge, attitudes, and competencies.
This journey aids in preventing HIV, reducing early and unintended pregnancies, and eradicating gender-based violence.
